Turkish FM says South Caucasus can be turned into center of peace, prosperity and stability

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has stressed the need to turn the South Caucasus into the center of peace, prosperity and stability.

According to Report, speaking at a joint press conference with the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Georgia in Baku, Fidan noted that a number of negative events happened in the world following the meeting in Tbilisi, noting, however, the positive changes in the region as well.

"Azerbaijan fully restored its territorial integrity and Georgia got the status of candidate in the European Union," he said.

Fidan also said the victory in Karabakh created new realities in the region.

"At this moment, lasting peace in the region already seems possible," he said.

The Turkish minister congratulated Azerbaijan on the upcoming hosting of the COP29 meeting in November 2024 and highly praised this fact.
