Strahinja Obrenovic: Azerbaijan, Serbia can expand co-op in transport, energy

The established relations between Baku and Belgrade create a solid basis for expanding cooperation in various promising areas, including transport and green energy, Strahinja Obrenovic, an expert and doctor of energy law and policy, told Report.

"Energy is, without a doubt, one of the most promising fields of cooperation between Serbia and Azerbaijan in the coming period. It is also worth noting the successful infrastructure projects realized by Azerbaijan in Serbia, particularly in the transport sector and road infrastructure. The well-developed bilateral relations provide a solid foundation for further trade cooperation and new investments in both countries. While the full potential of these relations has not yet been fully realized, further progress is expected in the near future, though the ongoing global crisis presents some risks that should not be ignored," he said.

"On the other hand, new areas for collaboration will become attractive in the near future, such as the production and export of green energy. In this sector, Serbia and Azerbaijan can collaborate successfully, though they must consider the intense global competition in this area. Both countries will need to ensure additional incentives for investments, especially by creating a favorable and stable regulatory framework," he added.
