The meeting in the Czech capital, Prague, between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, French President Emmanuel Macron, President of the European Council Charles Michel and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was of particular importance. This day was remembered by a number of important documents. The statement adopted at the end of the meeting should be considered another diplomatic victory for Baku. At the Prague meeting, Azerbaijan achieved its goal, Azerbaijani MP Jeyhun Mammadov said in an interview with Report.
He noted that the work on the document has been going on for a long time: “Azerbaijan sought to ensure its territorial integrity and the consent of Armenia. It is safe to say that Armenia fully recognized the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan achieved the approval of the document on which it worked 30 years. The document is based on the UN Charter. One of the most important issues here is that Karabakh is recognized as an integral part of Azerbaijan.”
The MP noted that attempts by Macron and Pashinyan to put some pressure on Azerbaijan were not ruled out: “However, during this meeting they failed to achieve their goals. Thanks to the determination of President Ilham Aliyev, at the meeting, which lasted more than five hours and consisted of two parts, an attempt to put pressure on Azerbaijan was prevented. In the end, the statement was accepted.”
Mammadov noted that at the Prague meeting, it was agreed to accelerate the process of delimitation and demarcation of borders: “This is in the interests of Azerbaijan. Because the Azerbaijani side has been negotiating the delimitation and demarcation of borders for a long time. And this goal has been achieved. We can say with full confidence that Azerbaijan will gain a diplomatic victory next time, too.”
