Slovakia to open honorary consulate in Azerbaijan

Slovakia plans to open an honorary consulate in Azerbaijan, Report informs, referring to the Slovak Foreign Ministry.

"The main priorities in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan are active support for Slovak companies, preparation for opening an honorary consulate in Azerbaijan, and deepening political dialogue between the two countries," the ministry said.

At the same time, it was noted that Slovakia's Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar met with Elchin Gasimov, the newly appointed ambassador of this country to Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, the minister emphasized that Slovakia sees mutual interest in deepening relations with Azerbaijan: "Last year, bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Slovakia strengthened significantly. During the Slovak Prime Minister's visit to Baku, we intensified mutual steps towards a strategic partnership."

Gasimov, in turn, emphasized that Azerbaijan is further strengthening its position as Slovakia's economic partner in various fields: "Azerbaijan is increasingly presenting itself as a promising business partner for Slovakia. Along with energy and defense industries, this also applies to IT and transportation sectors."
