The issue of Western Azerbaijanis must remain relevant in the international arena until they return to their homeland, the head of the Türkiye-Azerbaijan interparliamentary friendship group of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM), Shamil Ayrim, told Report.
Having emphasized the importance of voicing the injustices committed against Western Azerbaijanis at the 4th Antalya Diplomatic Forum, the TBMM member noted that the principled position of official Baku on this issue brought the topic to the international level: "After the Karabakh Victory, the process of returning internally displaced persons to their homelands began. Naturally, after this, the issue of returning Western Azerbaijanis to their historical homeland became relevant. Azerbaijan's initiative regarding the safe return of these people to their homeland is commendable. Because they are also victims of Armenian claims to Azerbaijani lands. In this regard, the activities of the Western Azerbaijan Community should also be highlighted."
Ayrim noted that Türkiye also provides all possible support to convey this injustice to the international community.
