Sahiba Gafarova meets with IPU Secretary General

The Speaker of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova, who is on a working visit in Geneva, Switzerland, met with Martin Chungong, the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Report informs, citing the Azerbaijani parliament.

During the meeting, the parties reviewed cooperation issues between the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

Speaker Gafarova highlighted her various meetings with the Secretary General and President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union as part of international events, and expressed her satisfaction with the current state of cooperation between the Milli Majlis and the IPU.

It was noted that the Inter-Parliamentary Union is an effective platform for international cooperation.

During the conversation, Azerbaijan's high-level and active representation in the organization was positively hailed. Satisfaction was expressed regarding the representation of Azerbaijani MPs in the governing bodies of the organization.

It was once again noted that the parliamentary conference jointly organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Milli Majlis within the framework of COP29 hosted by Azerbaijan last year was organized at a high level.

The sides emphasized that the successful implementation of a number of events through joint cooperation of the parties creates opportunities for further deepening of cooperation.
