Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu called on colleagues from the CIS countries to confront those who are trying to rewrite the common military history of the peoples of the former USSR and distort the events of World War II, Report informs citing RIA Novosti.
"Of course, everything must be done to resist any attempts to rewrite this story and, moreover, to make losers out of winners and winners out of losers," Shoigu said at a meeting with Azerbaijani President
“Today there are more and more people who want, in one respect, to rewrite history, and do everything so that winners cease to be such,” Shoigu said.
It is necessary to jointly counter such falsifications, the Russian Minister of Defense said, and for this reason as well, Russia invited CIS colleagues to participate in celebrations in honor of the 75th anniversary of the Victory Day. "We invited all our colleagues to the festivities in Moscow so that the military contingents of the Commonwealth countries took part in the Victory Parade on Red Square," Shoigu said.
He expressed hope that “Azerbaijani military will take an active part in this event, as it was before."
