Report director: Azerbaijan’s active position in NAM allowed changing int’l agenda

Azerbaijan’s active position in the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) made it possible to change the international agenda, Fuad Huseynaliyev, director of the Report news agency, said on the air of the “Aktualno Segodnya” (Actual Today) program on CBC TV channel, commenting on the Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement Coordinating Bureau in Baku on July 5.

He also stressed that Azerbaijan’s chairmanship in the organization fell on a rather difficult period - the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Azerbaijan has initiated global discussions within the UN on assistance to developing and poor countries. As is known, most of the participants in the NAM are poor states, in particular, many African countries that have suffered the most from the pandemic. Azerbaijan’s support for the distribution of vaccines against COVID-19 is significant. Azerbaijan contributed to the distribution of these vaccines to poor countries,” Huseynaliyev added.

Political scientist and lawyer Zaur Sadigbayli also joined the videoconference discussions from France.

During the discussions, a special place was given to the statements of Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev at the Ministerial Meeting of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement.
