Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with Simon Mordue, deputy secretary general for economic and global issues at the European Union External Action Service in Brussels, and Magdalena Grono, EU special representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, Report informs referring to Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, the current state and prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the EU, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest were discussed. Issues of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the EU in the fields of economy, trade, energy security, green energy, humanitarian sphere, etc. were considered.

In particular, it was noted that major projects implemented on the initiative of Azerbaijan in the energy sector play an important role in Europe's energy supply and security.

The parties also emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation in the field of alternative energy along with traditional energy sources.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also provided detailed information about the current situation and realities in the region in the post-conflict period. He noted that Azerbaijan is carrying out large-scale restoration and construction works in the territories liberated from occupation, as well as humanitarian demining. Issues of cooperation with the EU in the direction of demining and determining the fate of missing persons were touched upon.

It was noted that, despite progress in the process of normalization and peaceful settlement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the territorial claims against Azerbaijan that remain in the Constitution of Armenia, as well as the rapid arming of this country, pose a threat to the advancement of the peace agenda.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
