Azerbaijan is an important partner of Israel and home to one of the largest Jewish communities in the Muslim world, Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid wrote on Twitter, Report informs.
He welcomed the decision of official Baku to open an embassy in Israel:
"The decision to open an embassy reflects the depth of relations between the two countries. This step is the fruit of the Israeli government's efforts to build strong political bridges with the Muslim world," the Prime Minister said.
Lapid also thanked the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and congratulated the people of Azerbaijan, who will be represented at the embassy level in Israel for the first time.
On November 18, the Azerbaijani Parliament National Assembly agreed to the opening of embassies of Azerbaijan in Israel, Albania, and Kenya. The embassy of Azerbaijan in Israel will be located in the capital Tel Aviv, the embassy in Albania will be located in the capital Tirana, and the embassy in Kenya will be located in Nairobi.
