The non-participation of the Azerbaijani delegation in the CIS Economic Council meeting in Moscow may be explained by a number of objective reasons; however, it is not related to the current state of relations between Azerbaijan and Russia, Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Department of Foreign Policy Affairs of the Presidential Administration, told journalists within the framework of the 3rd Shusha Global Media Forum.
"The absence of the Azerbaijani delegation at the meeting can be explained by various factors, including changes in the personal schedules of delegation members," Hajiyev explained.
Responding to a question about a possible connection between the cancellation of the visit and the AZAL aircraft incident that occurred in December 2024, the presidential aide emphasized: "This event is held within the framework of the CIS. Issues on the bilateral agenda between Russia and Azerbaijan have no relation to this."
