The OSCE Minsk Group should be consigned to the dustbin of history, Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, said in an interview with the German newspaper Berliner Zeitung, Report informs.
According to Hajiyev, the Minsk Group demonstrated unsuccessful diplomatic activity for 30 years and did not offer any real perspective for resolving the conflict:
"We want the OSCE Minsk Group to be consigned to the dustbin of history. They demonstrated unsuccessful diplomatic activity for 30 years and did not offer any real perspective for resolving the conflict. Currently, there is real peace over the territory."
Hajiyev added that there is no issue of compensation in the current negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan:
"However, Azerbaijan has carried out a correct assessment of all damages. Armenia has openly violated international law, occupied Azerbaijani lands for 30 years, and failed to implement UN Security Council resolutions. They have completely destroyed our cities and villages. According to our assessment based on UN methodology, the amount of damage is around $150 billion," the president’s assistant said.
