Political scientist: Council of Europe demonstrates loss of moral compass by its anti-Azerbaijani statement

The Council of Europe, making an anti-Azerbaijani statement, demonstrates a complete loss of its moral compass, US political scientist and expert in the field of international relations Peter Tase told Report.

The Council of Europe’s committee of ministers has lost the spirit of cooperation and mutual understanding with key European strategic ally – Azerbaijan, he noted.

"Charles Michel, president of the European Council, Hadja Lahbib, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium, Catherine Colonna, Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of France, and other ministers have demonstrated their inability to preserve and defend the international humanitarian law and are leading the Council of Europe into the abyss of misconduct and misconceptions," he said.

"French MFA and Belgium’s top diplomats refuse to defend and are violating the very same humanitarian laws that were approved by their respective governments in the UN Human Rights Council over the past years."

He noted that the anti-Azerbaijani statement of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe and the EU delegation dated October 18 is not only full of bias, but also openly supports Armenian terrorist groups that have committed many crimes in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan.

"The Council of Europe is directly defending, and openly supporting the Armenian terrorist groups that inflicted so many human losses on the nation of Azerbaijan and have planted, and installed land mines (anti-personnel land mines) in the Azerbaijan territory of Karabakh (that has a swath of territory twice the size of Luxembourg) and this territory has experienced a large environmental ecocide, genocide against the innocent people of Azerbaijan and under Armenian rule became major training ground of terrorist groups," Tase said.
