Azerbaijan has demonstrated its support in the fight against colonialism, the Permanent Representative of Venezuela to the UN, Ambassador Joaquin Perez Ayestaran, who took part in the conference “Decolonization: A Quiet Revolution”, organized by Azerbaijan during the high-level week of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), Report informs.
The diplomat highly appreciated the steps and measures taken by Azerbaijan as the chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement in the fight against French colonialism: “Azerbaijan supported the peoples fighting for independence within the framework of the fundamental principles of international law.”
“This year I went to Baku twice. In February, I took part in the Non-Aligned Movement summit on COVID-19, which was convened on the initiative of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and in July in the ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan. We had very good consultations with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and visited universities. All this shows how close the relations between the two countries are,” added the Permanent Representative of Venezuela to the UN.
