Pashinyan: Peace established between Armenia, Azerbaijan; this marks beginning of new stage

The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, has called the initialing of the peace agreement with Azerbaijan in the US a turning point.

According to Report, the Armenian leader stated this in his address to the people.

Pashinyan recalled that after the trilateral summit held in Washington on August 8, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed two important documents; first, they initialed the Agreement "On Peace and Establishment of Interstate Relations," and second, they adopted a joint statement.

"Peace has been established between Armenia and Azerbaijan, dear people. Since August 8, we have been living in a different South Caucasus, in a new Armenia," Pashinyan said.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the agreements reached open the way to close the page of hostility between the two nations.

"We have once and for all rejected and excluded war as a tool, which means the beginning of a new stage. This is a fact that should not be reconsidered or changed. This opens the way to closing the page of hostility between the two peoples," the politician said.

Pashinyan stated that people in Armenia wanted peace, but the word "peace" itself is often met with criticism, and those who use it are sometimes condemned.

"Therefore, peace is something foreign to us. But I ask you: let's appreciate this reality. This means that we need to learn from scratch what peace is and what it looks like," he said.
