Georgia is ready to continue playing the role of a mediator in the settlement of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili said during a briefing with his Armenian counterpart Alen Simonyan on November 17, Report informs referring to Sputnik Armenia.
“Georgia is ready to continue acting as a mediator between Armenia and Azerbaijan so that the South Caucasus region becomes an example of peace and cooperation,” Papuashvili said.
He expressed hope that they would be able to show - and first of all to the younger generations - that even in the most difficult times the peoples of the Caucasus can build a peaceful future with their wisdom and cooperation.
Simonyan arrived in Tbilisi on November 16. The speaker of the Armenian Parliament has already met with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili.
