OIC special rep calls for drafting more comprehensive laws against racism

Drafting more comprehensive laws against racism is necessary, Mehmet Pacaci, Special Representative of the OIC Secretary-General on Islamophobia, said at an international scientific conference themed "Islamophobia in Focus: Unveiling Bias, Shattering Stigmas," held in Baku.

Report quotes Pacaci as saying right-wing extremists are directly targeting Muslims, so comprehensive measures are needed to eliminate Islamophobia:

"According to our documents, it is important to establish an international legal framework against Islamophobia. We have established an observatory to systematically eliminate Islamophobia. Monitoring is carried out there and appropriate measures are taken. However, additional measures are also needed. Academic circles should also refrain from biased approaches and study ideologies. At the same time, it is imperative to actively work with media platforms. Also, a clear and balanced approach should be added to educational programs."
