Number of Chinese tourists in Azerbaijan up by 70% year-on-year, ambassador says

China and Azerbaijan are taking the necessary steps for the mutual ratification and implementation of a visa-free agreement, Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Lu Mei, said at an event dedicated to the first International Day of Dialogue Among Civilizations — June 10, according to Report.

"From January to April of this year, the number of Chinese tourists who visited Azerbaijan increased by 70% compared to the same period last year. It is expected that the entry into force of the mutual visa-free agreement will further boost this influx. Both sides are already taking the necessary steps for its ratification and implementation," she said.

The diplomat emphasized that the Chinese diplomatic mission will provide timely updates on the progress of the ratification procedure on China’s side.
