New Caledonian MP says if their demands not heard, 'our struggle will turn into war'

New Caledonian MP Maria Isabella Saliga has declared that their struggle will turn into a war if their anti-colonial demands are not heard.

Report informs that Saliga made the statement at the international conference "Colonialism: Erasure of Religious-National Identity" held in Baku.

She noted that French President Emmanuel Macron continues his policy of assimilation against the indigenous people in New Caledonia:

"The situation that Macron has put us in serves only his own ego. We are facing serious threats."

Maria Isabella Saliga said that Baku has turned into a decolonization center for peoples subjected to colonization:

"We are trying to convey our demands to the world from here. If this does not work, our struggle will turn into a war."
