Italy is one of the countries of great importance for Azerbaijan, MP Vahid Ahmadov, a member of the Italian-Azerbaijani Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan said.
According to Report, he recalled that during the 44-day Patriotic War, the President of Italy and the President of the Council of Ministers defended Azerbaijan and used international platforms to convey Azerbaijan's voice to the world:
"In addition, Italy and Azerbaijan enjoy extensive economic and political ties. The trade turnover between the two countries is quite high. Italy ranks first in Azerbaijan's foreign trade and is followed by Turkiye and Russia. Italy's place in the export of non-oil products abroad is also important. There are warm relations between the President of Azerbaijan and the President of the Council of Ministers of Italy. Considering all this, we can say that this visit is of great importance for us."
Ahmadov noted that the visit took place after President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Brussels:
“Probably, some issues related to the Brussels visit were also discussed with Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi. During the visit, important meetings of the heads of state were held and continue. The new building of the Azerbaijani embassy in Italy was opened. The embassy is part of Azerbaijan and the commissioning of its new building is one of the remarkable events.”
