Meetings of interparliamentary friendship groups of Azerbaijan, Georgia planned in new format

The inter-parliamentary cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan envisages a transition to a new stage in the activities of friendship groups, Irakli Kadagishvili, chairman of the Committee on Self-Government and Regional Policy of the Georgian Parliament, told Report.

According to him, bilateral meetings are regularly held between the friendship groups of Georgia and Azerbaijan.

A separate meeting is planned for the near future, which will also be attended for the first time by the specialized committees of both parliaments to exchange experience and discuss common issues, he added.

Kadagishvili noted that such a format is important for strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation and developing legislative dialogue.

He recalled the recent visit of Chairperson of the Parliament of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova to Georgia and emphasized that these contacts testify to the high level of interaction between the countries.

"Our cooperation continues in the spirit of strategic partnership and serves the political, economic and public interests of both countries," he noted.
