The people of Guadeloupe must strengthen their fight against the challenges, Mael Lavenaire Pineau, a lecturer at the London School of Economics and Political Science, said at a panel session on "Political and institutional decolonization" held within the framework of the international conference titled "Towards the Decolonization of Guadeloupe: Challenges and Perspectives" in Baku on Wednesday, Report informs.
According to him, France pursued a policy of colonialism directly through the constitution:
"After 1946, a neocolonial regime was introduced. In the 1950s-1980s, independence-seeking forces were formed to fight this policy. However, the inability to make a direct decision on the method of struggle in recent years has become the main obstacle to the decolonization policy. Therefore, France has maintained its colonial policy through the new system. However, we are now more determined in the struggle and we must find ways to strengthen our fight against challenges."
