Newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lu Mei has expressed her readiness to actively strengthen ties with representatives of all strata of Azerbaijani society in order to deepen mutual understanding, strengthen friendship and develop bilateral cooperation, Report informs.
Upon her arrival in Baku, she noted that the announcement in 2024 by the heads of state on the establishment of a Chinese-Azerbaijani strategic partnership helped bring bilateral relations to a new stage of development.
"China and Azerbaijan are sincere good friends who trust each other and equal reliable partners. More than 2,000 years ago, China and Azerbaijan began civilized exchanges, mutual enrichment and mutual learning along the Silk Road. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992, bilateral ties have developed steadily. In July 2024, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev jointly announced the establishment of the China-Azerbaijan strategic partnership, which helped bring bilateral relations to a new stage of development and maturity," she noted.
Lu Mei stressed that thanks to mutual support, China and Azerbaijan have achieved significant achievements not only in bilateral cooperation, but also in the global arena.
"The two sides have consistently provided firm support to each other and strengthened political mutual trust. We have also closely cooperated in the international arena, jointly advocating for a more just and rational world order," she added.
