The 31st anniversary of the Khojaly genocide, one of the biggest crimes of the 20st century, is approaching, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Khalaf Khalafov said at the awarding ceremony of the essay competition among volunteers dedicated to the 31st anniversary of the Khojaly genocide, Report informs.
"Azerbaijan is working towards the international recognition of the Khojaly tragedy as genocide," he said.
“We have not been able to bring the perpetrators of the Khojaly genocide to justice. This crime was committed by Armenian terrorists together with the 336th motorized rifle regiment of the former USSR. Serzh Sargsyan admitted that they committed this crime to implement the policy of ethnic cleansing against the people of Azerbaijan,” he noted.
