Kemi Seba: 'We count on Azerbaijan's support'

The NGO URGENCES PANAFRICANISTES counts on Azerbaijan's support and sees the Baku Initiative Group as a sincere friend, the head of the NGO, Kemi Seba, told journalists in Baku, Report informs.

"We came here because we are tired of Western oppression. We are here in Azerbaijan because we are looking for support, and I believe that Baku will provide us with support for some period or on a long-term basis. We are looking for sincere friends here, and we see the Baku Initiative Group as a sincere friend," said Seba.

He added that four major systems of enslavement in Europe, or more precisely colonial systems, still demonstrate their influence today.

"I am in Baku because I know what Baku can do for us, and I believe that together we will accomplish great things," he said.

He also noted that he has been fighting imperialism for 25 years and during this time has witnessed discrimination against black people.

"Because of the French regime, I was in prison twice. I was detained twice in France and twice in Africa, and I was lucky to be able to get free. Oligarchic France can still exert its influence on the black population of Africa these days, and to keep it in its hands, it declares the need for Western presence and continues to work through its diasporas," said Kemi Seba.

Kemi Seba, born in Strasbourg, France, in 1981, is recognized as a symbolic leader of the movement for African independence and sovereignty and actively fights against neocolonialism. In 2024, the French government stripped Seba of his French citizenship for openly criticizing French authorities over the damage inflicted on African countries by Paris' colonial policies and for supporting independence movements in French overseas territories. French authorities have also arrested Seba several times to pressure him to back down from his position and renounce his activities.

In response to losing his French citizenship, the President of Niger appointed Seba as a special advisor, and several African countries provided him with diplomatic passports. Seba boasts a wide audience across various social media platforms, with 1.3 million followers on Facebook, 370,000 on TikTok, 306,000 on Instagram, 280,000 on X and 230,000 on YouTube.
