The cooperation of the North Atlantic Alliance with the countries of the South Caucasus is very valuable, US Permanent Representative to NATO Julianne Smith said at an online briefing for journalists, Report informs.
Julianne Smith recalled that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg recently visited the South Caucasus - Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia.
“He visited the capitals of the countries of the South Caucasus and this speaks of the value of our partnership. Georgia is one of our closest partners. Azerbaijan and Armenia are also deepening relations with NATO, but it should be emphasized that not all partners seek membership,” she said.
She noted that NATO supports Georgia's desire to become part of the alliance.
