Jean-Pierre: Azerbaijan, BIG play special role in liberating peoples from colonial legacy

The role of Azerbaijan and the Baku Initiative Group (BIG) in decolonization is of particular importance for peoples seeking liberation from the colonial legacy, Secretary of the International Front for Decolonization (Guadeloupe) José Martin Jean-Pierre told journalists on the sidelines of the international conference “Towards the Decolonization of Guadeloupe: Challenges and Perspectives” held in Baku, Report informs.

“To achieve our main goal - to leave the French colonial world - we cooperate with all freedom-loving peoples who can help us with this. Azerbaijan and the Baku Initiative Group have become our key partners on this path,” he noted.

He added that throughout history, France has sought to hide the truth about its colonial policy and maintain control over the situation, limiting international awareness of what is happening in its overseas territories.

"Many of the events we have experienced have remained hidden from the world community. This is part of the colonial strategy - to keep everything under control and to avoid international attention," Jean-Pierre said.
