International Front of Guadeloupe: 'We stand together with Azerbaijan in search of justice'

France bears direct responsibility for the colonial enslavement of Guadeloupe, which left a deep mark on the history of this Caribbean island, Secretary of the International Front for Decolonization (Guadeloupe), José Martin Jean-Pierre, said at the international conference "Towards the Decolonization of Guadeloupe: Challenges and Perspectives" in Baku, Report informs.

"Colonial oppression led to unspeakable suffering for the indigenous population. Our natural resources were mercilessly taken away, a sea of ​​innocent blood was shed, thousands died. Many could not survive in the inhuman conditions in which we were forced to exist. However, even in the darkest times, our women and children continued to fight with incredible pride - their courage became our main weapon in confronting the oppressors," Jean-Pierre emphasized.

The representative of the International Front for Decolonization especially emphasized that the people of Guadeloupe resolutely oppose the continuation of colonial policy in the modern world.

"We stand shoulder to shoulder with Azerbaijan in the search for justice. We express our deep gratitude to the Baku Initiative Group and all the people of Azerbaijan for the solidarity shown in our struggle," José Martin Jean-Pierre added.
