Ibrahim Negm: Non-Muslims perceive fatwa as method of punishment

Non-Muslims perceive fatwa as a method of punishment, Secretary-General of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide Ibrahim Negm said at an international scientific conference themed "Islamophobia in Focus: Unveiling Bias, Shattering Stigmas," held in Baku, Report informs.

According to Negm, although there are many platforms for obtaining information now, awareness has decreased:

"That is why there is a bias against fatwas. We can achieve such great success by spreading information about what a fatwa is and what it is not. I lived in New York for a while and I saw that there are forces that are inclined to spread false information about the religion of Islam. Therefore, the number of scholars conducting research in this field should increase and they should be given a platform. In this way, they should convey the truth to the world."
