Azerbaijan is actively preparing for a new dynamic in regional trade by taking strategic steps to develop its transport infrastructure, Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, said during a panel discussion titled "The Middle Corridor: A New Geopolitical and Economic Lifeline?" at GLOBSEC 2025.
According to Report, Hajiyev stressed that Azerbaijan had invested in the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway. Additional funding was also provided to increase its capacity from 1 to 5 million tons.
"Furthermore, we are investing additional resources in expanding the capacity of the Baku ports. In other words, we are preparing for a new dynamic in regional trade," he said.
