Hajiyev: Azerbaijan prepared for any scenarios that may affect sanctioned neighbors

Azerbaijan is prepared for possible scenarios that may be implemented against its neighboring countries currently under sanctions, Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, said during a panel discussion titled "The Middle Corridor: A New Geopolitical and Economic Lifeline?" at GLOBSEC 2025.

According to Report, he stressed that Azerbaijan finds itself at the center of a complex geopolitical situation: the Russian-Ukrainian conflict is ongoing on the one side, while the military showdown between Israel and Iran is escalating on the other.

"We anticipated the evolution of this situation and prepared ourselves, to a certain extent, for both new geopolitical shocks stemming from the Middle East and for possible scenarios that may affect our neighbors under sanctions," Hajiyev said.
