Broad horizons are opening up for peace and security in the South Caucasus region, former Prime Minister of Turkey Binali Yildirim said at the panel session “South Caucasus: Regional Development and Prospective for Cooperation” within VIII Global Baku Forum, Report informs.
He reminded that for 30 years the Azerbaijani lands were occupied by Armenia, but a year ago, thanks to the policy of Azerbaijan, all these lands were returned and everyone sees how they flourish. Now work is underway to restore infrastructure in the liberated territories, he added.
The former Turkish prime minister also noted the need to launch the Zangazur Corridor soon.
Yildirim reminded that Turkey has proposed a new platform of cooperation “3+3” with the participation of the three countries of the South Caucasus, Turkey, Russia and Iran.
He said that the implementation of this platform will bring peace to the region.
Yildirim noted that countries from other regions should also be involved in regional cooperation.
