Somalia praises the trilateral format with Azerbaijan and Türkiye, Somalia's Foreign Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali stated at a joint press conference with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov in Baku, Report informs.

Abdisalam Abdi Ali also highlighted cooperation between the countries in natural resource exploration in Somalia.

"As my colleague rightly noted, close relations have been established between Somalia and Türkiye, and we appreciate the trilateral platform with Azerbaijan's participation. I would also like to note that the countries will help us in the search for natural resources," he noted.

He also added that Azerbaijan will be the first country to carry out drilling operations in Somalia.

In February 2025, Azerbaijan and Somalia signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the oil and gas sector.

The document provides for the exchange of experience to develop cooperation in the oil and gas sectors, participation in relevant events to be held in both countries, as well as holding joint seminars and forums.
