The leaders of European countries accept the victory of Azerbaijan and the existing realities in the region, and the meeting of the leaders of Azerbaijan, France, Armenia, and the EU Council president in a video format testifies to this, military expert, editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine Igor Korotchenko told Report's Russian bureau.
"The fact that at yesterday's meeting of the leaders of Azerbaijan, France, Armenia, and the EU Council President there was no mention of the OSCE Minsk Group is a reflection of the existing realities and the understanding of this fact by the leaders of European countries. This is a diplomatic victory for Azerbaijan," Korotchenko said.
According to him, the OSCE Minsk Group no longer exists as a subject of problem settlement, and it has lost its meaning since Azerbaijan restored its territorial integrity following the Second Karabakh War.
The issue of the UNESCO mission was also discussed at the meeting of the leaders of Azerbaijan, France, Armenia, and the EU Council president. The sides agreed to send it to Azerbaijan and Armenia. According to the Russian expert, UNESCO will have to seriously deal with the issue of cultural monuments destroyed by the Armenian side in the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation:
"Armenians left behind destroyed churches and mosques in the liberated territories. From a humanitarian point of view, these problems must be solved."
Korotchenko believes that UNESCO should also be actively involved in such issues as the provision of maps of minefields: "The problem of demining and the transfer of maps of minefields is an important element in strengthening security in the region."
