The mandate of the European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, Magdalena Grono, will be extended for another two years, a high-ranking EU representative told Report at a briefing ahead of the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting, which will take place next week.
"Magdalena Grono has established good contacts in all three countries of the region. At the ministerial meeting, the council chairman will propose to extend her term in this position for the next two years," the EU official noted.
According to the EU official, within the framework of her mandate, Grono will be able to provide EU support in the South Caucasus whenever it is necessary, including for the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
