Deputy PM of Turkmenistan: ECO has great potential for strengthening co-op in energy sector

The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) has significant potential for strengthening energy cooperation, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov, said at the 17th ECO summit, Report informs.

He proposed creating a mechanism for coordinating the energy policy of the ECO countries.

He noted that Turkmenistan considers it important to adopt a new program document containing the ECO goals until 2035, and proposes to create a Council of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the ECO member countries.

Meredov also thanked Azerbaijan for organizing the ECO summit in Khankendi at a high level.
