Deputy FM meets with Vietnamese foreign minister

Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov met with Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son as part of his official visit to Vietnam, Report informs, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.

The sides exchanged views on the history of Azerbaijan-Vietnam relations, the current situation and the direction of further strengthening of relations. They stressed the importance of maintaining the high level of political dialogue between Azerbaijan and Vietnam, carrying out mutual visits, and expanding inter-parliamentary relations and ties between the ruling parties of the two countries. The officials also exchanged views on partnership within the framework of international organizations and regional and international security issues of mutual interest.

During the meeting, the Azerbaijani side presented information on the post-conflict situation in the region, including restoration, construction, and reintegration works in the liberated areas and expressed gratitude to the Vietnamese side for consistent support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.

The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries further held political consultations with the participation of delegations led by Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov and Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc.

During the meeting, the parties emphasized that the traditionally friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Vietnam have developed over the last years on the entire spectrum and discussed the existing potential in the direction of expanding mutual partnership in political, trade and economy, energy, agriculture, transport and humanitarian fields. The importance of conducting high-level mutual visits and strengthening inter-parliamentary relations was also stressed.

The sides also exchanged views on the prospects of developing cooperation in regional and international organizations, and voiced satisfaction with the mutual support between the two countries within the framework of the UN and the Non-Aligned Movement.
