Cyprus ready to support peace process in South Caucasus during its EU presidency

The Republic of Cyprus has expressed its readiness to contribute to the peace process in the South Caucasus during its presidency of the EU, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement following a phone conversation between Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and his Cypriot counterpart Constantinos Kombos.

According to Report, the Cypriot foreign minister congratulated Azerbaijan on the progress in normalizing relations with Armenia achieved at the trilateral summit in Washington on August 8.

“During the phone conversation, plans within the framework of the Republic of Cyprus’s presidency of the EU Council in the first half of 2026, as well as regional issues, were discussed. The Cypriot side expressed its readiness to support the peace process in the region during its EU presidency,” the statement said.
