Christian Vallar: After 2020, attitude of several Western powers towards Azerbaijan changed significantly

After 2020, the attitude of several Western powers towards Azerbaijan noticeably changed, which was especially evident in their reaction to Baku's restoration of its territorial integrity, Christian Vallar, professor of Public Law at the University of Côte d'Azur, said at the conference "France and the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict," Report informs.

According to him, the fact that Azerbaijan regained 20% of its internationally recognized territories caused an extremely negative reaction from several countries, including official Paris.

"France has always expressed support for Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Until 2020, relations between Baku and Paris developed dynamically and fruitfully. During my first visit in 2017, I met with French diplomats in Baku, and they noted the prospects for developing trade and economic relations between the two countries. However, after 2020, all successful processes stalled. Azerbaijan occupies an important place in the South Caucasus region," Vallar emphasized.
