Islamophobia is a threat not only to Muslims but also to human rights, the Chair of Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID), Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Naimi, said at an international scientific conference themed "Islamophobia in Focus: Unveiling Bias, Shattering Stigmas," held in Baku, Report informs.
According to Al Naimi, Islamophobia is not only a religious issue, but also a human rights issue:
"Practical measures must be taken on this. Measures are being taken against Islamophobia. Our purpose in gathering today is to raise the voices of those who have been marginalized. This is a matter of our common humanity and conscience."
The DICID chairman said that Islamophobia is gaining momentum internationally:
"This issue has deep historical roots. The process of Islamophobia, which began in ancient times, is currently based on misinformation. The consequences of this are very dangerous and far-reaching."
Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Naimi noted that three main issues need to be addressed in the fight against Islamophobia:
"The first is education. The next is international efforts to communicate the truth. The last is a call for greater cooperation among people around the world. We must work together for the future, or there will be no future."
