British political scientist: There is negligible chance that UN Security Council will accept Armenia's appeal

There is a negligible chance that Armenia's appeal related to unfounded claims about the "deteriorating humanitarian situation" in the region and the "continuing blockade" will be taken into consideration by the UN Security Council, British political scientist and journalist Neil Watson told Report.

He noted that without a full and thorough consideration of the situation, this would violate the UN Charter, based on the principles of humanity and peace.

In addition, the political scientist stressed that Armenia is aware of the importance of normalizing relations with Azerbaijan as a key factor for ensuring the economic prosperity of the country.

"In my view, the Armenian leadership is aware that the only logical way forward is a peace treaty with Azerbaijan. However, there are factions in Armenia, the rich and powerful international Armenian diaspora and its two big supporters - Russia and Iran - who wish to return to a stalemate situation of no peace, no war, ad infinitum,"he noted.

"Pashinyan is not a particularly effective politician and is having an almost impossible task in persuading his self-deluded compatriots that the game is up, as proven by his contradictory statements."
