Belgian government supports peace between Baku and Yerevan

The Belgian government calls for the early signing of the peace treaty draft between Azerbaijan and Armenia that was agreed upon in March 2025, Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Report.

"We support sustainable peace and regional development based on the UN principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, and respect for human rights. Belgium, as an active member of the European Union, consistently supports the peaceful resolution of conflicts in the South Caucasus region and adherence to international law," the ministry responded to a question about the government's approach to the position expressed in a resolution recently adopted by the country's parliament.

The Foreign Ministry also noted that within the principle of separation of powers, the parliament has independent authority to adopt resolutions.
