Bayramov: Somalia always supported Azerbaijan on issue of occupied territories

Somalia has consistently taken a clear stance on Armenia’s occupation of Azerbaijani territories and has been a member of the Contact Group established within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to address this issue, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said during a joint press conference with Somali Foreign Minister Abdisalam Ali, Report informs.

“We are very pleased with the steady development of our relations with friendly Somalia. Last year, the visit of my counterpart’s predecessor to Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani delegation’s visit to Somalia in early 2025, and the Somali president’s visit to Azerbaijan, during which several agreements covering various fields were signed and are now being implemented, have greatly contributed to the strengthening of our ties,” Bayramov said.

He added that bilateral relations are developing on the basis of mutual interests.

“We have built positive cooperation in several international platforms, including the United Nations, the OIC, and the Non-Aligned Movement,” he noted.
