Baku Initiative Group to ink memorandum with United Saint Martin Association

Today, the Baku Initiative Group (BIG) will sign its fourth memorandum, BIG's Executive Director, Abbas Abbasov told reporters during a conference in Baku titled "French and Dutch Colonialism in Saint Martin - One Island, One People, One Fate," Report informs.

According to Abbasov, the document will be signed with the United Saint Martin Association and will include provisions for cooperation in political, economic, and educational spheres with Saint Martin.

Abbasov touched upon the historical division of the island of Saint Martin between France and the Netherlands in 1648, stating, "It was from that year onward that they applied their vile colonial policies to the island. Today, academics, MPs, NGO leaders, and various institute heads from Saint Martin are here to inform the world community, within the framework of international law, about the struggle for a united Saint Martin, its people, and territory."
