Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has received the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Kubanychbek Omuraliev, who is currently visiting Azerbaijan, Report informs, citing Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, Omuraliev expressed his condolences once again over the recent crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) plane and wished patience to the families of the deceased.
In response, Bayramov expressed his gratitude for the letters of condolence and statements from the OTS and the Secretary General since the beginning of the tragedy.
The minister emphasized that strengthening friendship, brotherhood, and cooperation within the OTS is a top priority for Azerbaijan. He stated that Azerbaijan consistently supports initiatives and ideas aimed at realizing this potential.
Bayramov also highlighted the importance of further strengthening and expanding the organization's secretariat and observer status in international organizations.
The parties noted the significance of the informal summit held in Shusha this year, the Karabakh Declaration adopted during the summit, and the decisions taken during the summit held in Bishkek for multifaceted cooperation within the organization.
They also mentioned that this year, the adoption of the common Turkic Alphabet, the new flag and logo of the organization, the decision to establish a Civil Protection Mechanism within the organization, and agreements in various other areas have further strengthened the OTS.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
