Azerbaijani Embassy in Kyiv hosts reception on Independence Day

The Azerbaijani Embassy in Ukraine organized a reception in Kyiv on the occasion of the Independence Day of Azerbaijan, Report informs.

The event was attended by Azerbaijanis living in Ukraine and public and political figures of the country, as well as representatives of the state, government, parliamentary leadership, and representatives from local state agencies.

Speaking at the reception, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Ukraine Seymur Mardaliyev said that 107 years ago, on May 28, 1918, with the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR), the first parliamentary democratic state in the entire Muslim East, was founded.

The ambassador noted that 107 years later, today, Azerbaijan, as an independent, sovereign and democratic country, under the wise and far-sighted leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, is realizing the dreams and ideals of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic with its effective governance, development of socio-economic and human capital, and growing role and influence in the international community.

On behalf of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Deputy Speaker Olena Kondratiuk, who conveyed her congratulations on the occasion of Azerbaijan's Independence Day, said in her speech that this is a special holiday.

"Ukraine and Azerbaijan are strategic partners. Moreover, we are friends united by history, common challenges and mutual support. We are grateful for the humanitarian assistance provided to Azerbaijan, for the support it has given to our energy sector, for the restoration of the destroyed infrastructure. Let this Independence Day be a holiday of hope, strength and unity! On behalf of the Ukrainian Parliament, I wish the people of Azerbaijan peace and prosperity," the deputy speaker said.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Olexandr Mischenko conveyed his congratulations to the Azerbaijani state on behalf of his country's MFA.

"With great satisfaction, I congratulate the Republic of Azerbaijan, our strategic partner, which has provided and continues to provide humanitarian assistance from the beginning of Russia's aggressive war to the present stage, on its Independence Day. Since February 2022, the value of humanitarian assistance provided by Azerbaijan has exceeded $41 million," Mischenko said.

Olexandr Mischenko also noted that the diaspora plays an important role in the bilateral relations between Ukraine and Azerbaijan.

Then, a video clip was shown, embodying the fascinating nature, culture and art of Azerbaijan.

The presentation of Azerbaijani products in a special corner aroused great interest among the event participants.
