Azerbaijan, Malaysia hold interministerial political consultations

On April 15, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Malaysian Deputy Foreign Minister Mohamad Alamin in Baku, Report informs referring to the Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Malaysia in the economy, trade, energy security and alternative energy, education, tourism, as well as issues of the regional and international agenda.

The meeting noted the prospects for expanding cooperation between the two countries, emphasized the importance of mutual contacts and the mechanism of political consultations. In addition, the diplomats also discussed prospects for cooperation within international organizations, including the UN, OIC, the Non-Aligned Movement and the D-8 Economic Cooperation Organization.

"It was emphasized with satisfaction that in 2026 Baku will host the OIC Summit within Azerbaijan's chairmanship in the organization. The parties exchanged views on cooperation in this direction," the information says.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on a number of other topical issues.

The Foreign Ministry emphasizes that on Tuesday, Azerbaijan and Malaysia held interministerial political consultations. From the Azerbaijani side, they were headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov, from the Malaysian side - Deputy Foreign Minister Mohamad Alamin.
