Bulgariah Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh met with Azerbaijani Ambassador to Bulgaria Huseyn Huseynov to discuss bilateral cooperation in tourism and opportunities for its expansion, Bulgaria's Tourism Ministry said in a press release on Friday.
According to Report, the two officials explored concrete measures to enhance tourist exchanges between the two countries. One of the key proposals included organizing tourism presentations showcasing Bulgaria in Baku and Azerbaijan in Sofia in 2025.
Ambassador Huseynov emphasized the benefits of deepening tourism ties, saying that "Azerbaijan and Bulgaria have strong potential for tourism development."
The Tourism Ministry will continue its efforts to expand cooperation with Azerbaijan, including participation in international tourism forums and initiatives under the World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism), the ministry said.
An important step in developing tourist connections was the opening of direct flights between the capital cities of the two countries in June 2024, when Sofia Airport welcomed the first direct flight from Baku. Azerbaijan’s national carrier, AZAL, launched biweekly flights on Tuesdays and Fridays, connecting the Bulgarian and Azerbaijani capitals.
