Azerbaijan and Georgia plan to elevate their joint educational and youth initiatives to a systemic level, transforming one-off events into ongoing programs, Georgian Minister of Education, Science, and Youth Givi Mikanadze said during a meeting with Georgian and Azerbaijani students participating in a summer camp in Quba.
Report informs via Georgian media that the meeting was attended by Azerbaijani Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov and Georgian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Zurab Pataradze.
"We have truly reached a high level of mutual understanding and cooperation with the Republic of Azerbaijan, which is based on common interests, historical ties and the friendship between the two countries. We will actively continue to implement joint educational youth initiatives, and the camps, like other diverse projects, will become systematic," said Mikanadze.
He also emphasized the importance of the involvement of the Presidents of Georgia and Azerbaijan – Mikheil Kavelashvili and Ilham Aliyev – in the implementation of the joint projects and said that the successful holding of the camp was possible precisely with their support and assistance.
Mikanadze thanked Gayibov for the fruitful cooperation. According to him, the “exemplary partnership” will continue in the future and very soon Georgia will host Georgian and Azerbaijani students.
The camp in Azerbaijan is being held at three locations in Guba, Baku and Sumgayit as part of the Georgian-Azerbaijani Youth Week, with 90 students participating. The week also includes excursions, various sports, educational and cultural activities, and a youth forum.
The Georgian-Azerbaijani Youth Week, which began on July 22 and ends on July 27, provides students with an opportunity to learn about each other's cultures, as well as to strengthen youth ties and share experiences among students.
