A year ago, Azerbaijan ended Armenia’s illegal military presence and the separatist regime they have sustained in the Karabakh region (there is no any region or entity as Nagorno-Karabakh), spokesperson for the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs Aykhan Hajizada said on X in response to German MFA, Report informs.
Hajizada noted that the conflict started as a result of the military aggression, and ethnic cleansing of Azerbaijanis by Armenia 30 years ago. “Conflict has ended when Azerbaijan has restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty,” he stressed.
The spokesperson noted that the departure of Armenians was their own choice that the Azerbaijani side has discouraged not to do so.
“Yes, now is time for peace, and hope Armenia will reciprocate Azerbaijan’s goodwill, will denounce claims against the territories of neighboring states not only in words but also with actions,” Hajizada concluded.
Earlier the German MFA said on X that a year ago, "Nagorno-Karabakh" was once again the scene of military conflict: "Thousands of people fled their homes towards Armenia. Since then, Armenia and Azerbaijan have continuously worked to live side by side and have started peace talks."
